Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s largest protected area and one of East Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations, located in the northeastern region of the country. Covering more than 1,200 square kilometers, the park features a spectacular mix of savannah plains, wetlands, lakes, and woodlands, creating a diverse habitat for incredible wildlife. Famous as Rwanda’s only Big Five safari destination, Akagera is home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinoceroses, alongside giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous antelope species.
