Virunga National Park

Established in 1925 as Africa’s oldest national park, Virunga National Park in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of incomparable biodiversity. Spanning nearly 8,000 square kilometers from the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains to the shores of Lake Kivu, this vast wilderness shelters one-third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas alongside rare species like the forest elephant and okapi.
